C'est la Vie #1 : Moonage Daydream (Half Moon Bay)
It’s been about 2 weeks since my last post and I am so excited to publish the first installment of my journal series, C’est la Vie. This series will be a casual, candid, and intimate. It’ll cover everything travel and beyond! I’m so excited to share this series as it is something I’ve been pondering over since I started this blog in July of 2018. I don’t want to introduce it too much, but think of this as a page right out of my personal journal. Here we go!
“Press your space face close to mine, love
Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah.”
Jared, Lila and I are incredibly lucky to be hosting one of our best friends (aka my twin), Michelle. Michelle is an important person in my life. She has been there for me through thick and thin, has put up with lots of my shenanigans and moodiness, and she stars in many of my happiest and fondest adventure memories. She’s a fellow traveller and someone I really look up to. She’s the big sister I’ve always wanted and now have.
Since our college days, it’s not often that we find ourselves in the same place at the same time, so every moment she spends with us is precious. Even if it means me sitting at the kitchen table writing this post and her laying 8 feet away on my couch, watching Netflix (Back with the Ex if anyone was wondering).
On Saturday, we dragged her along our morning errands bright and early but once we were done, we were off on our long overdue adventure. On the itinerary - a visit to Half Moon Bay.
I absolutely love driving down PCH. The views are quite unbeatable and it never fails to make my jaw drop. Sometimes I take living in America for granted. After all, I’m a Singaporean girl living in a state that is way bigger than my beloved little red dot of a country (forget the United States as a whole).
We ran into a lonely llama mama, some cute vintage cars, unique homes, and flowers!
Then we walked down to the beach to enjoy the views. The waves were going absolutely nuts that day!
I also took my new Nikon d7200 out for a spin. This is my first big girl camera and I am loving it! I’ve always been interested in photography since my myspace days. I was never formally trained but I have fun along the way. I’m trying to define my style and learn more as photography is something I’ve always loved!
We’re always grateful whenever we get to travel with Lila. We never get to travel internationally with her, so we’ve been trying to focus more on road trips. Lila (as you all know) is our heart. We love spending time with her and try to take her everywhere we can, so long as it isn’t going to stress her out. It was nice having Michelle with us because she’s one of the few people Lila trusts.
California has been getting a whole lot of rain in the last few months so that means beautiful, abundant spring blooms! We stumbled on this massive field of wild flowers! Anyone know what kind these are?
Of course with the 3 of us, we had to grab some grub if not this wouldn’t be an old fashion adventure group road trip. Thankfully we aren’t picky - McDonalds will do! We had their new mushroom Swiss burger (amazing, by the way), bacon cheese fries, McFlurries, Jared had a quarter pounder… Don’t judge. We parked along the cost, enjoyed the view and pigged out!
If you are looking for a quick, half day trip out of San Francisco, I highly recommend paying Half Moon Bay a visit. Spring will probably be gorgeous with all the flowers in bloom but I’d imagine summer would be way more appropriate for beachin’ around.
Regardless, we had a lot of fun. Life can get so busy with us sometimes that we forget to just be and enjoy great company. Money has been tight for both Jared and me because of our upcoming move and the WEDDING, so day trips like these are way more affordable but also satisfies our wanderlust.
The whole day was really enjoyable and special to me. It was so simple, quite unplanned, but it really revitalized my spirit. It’s really amazing what good friends does for your soul and spirit. I tend to guard my heart when it comes to friendships. We’ve all been burned in the past, but when you meet someone so special, so uplifting, and inspirational, it makes the whole journey worth it!
Love and cherish your friends! Especially the amazing ones!
